About Jon Bowermaster
A short tale about how media can truly make a difference in local environmental debates. My film, ‘Dear Governor Cuomo, New Yorkers Against Fracking,’ is I think a great case. Using clips from the film and both empirical and first-hand experience having screened the film a couple hundred times in the past 12 months — and watched the anti-fracking movement grow not just in New York but across the country during the same period — I think I have a fun story with great music and video to support it.
Talk Description
A short tale about how media ? film, Internet dispatches, good reporting ? really can make a difference in local environmental debates. I?ve traveled the world the past 25 years writing and making films that tell environmental stories, most of them for National Geographic. My most recent film, ‘Dear Governor Cuomo, New Yorkers Against Fracking,’ is a good example of how movies can make a difference. Using clips from the film and accounts from my first-hand experience screening the film a couple hundred times in the past year I can share just how successful grassroots efforts can be when it comes to local environmental fights.
